Application verification for Greenhouse
Applications from real people, at a human pace.
SolelyHumans confirms each applicant is a real, unique person, then limits how many applications that person can send each week.
| Question | Identity check alone | SolelyHumans |
|---|---|---|
| Is this a real person with a real ID? | Yes | Yes |
| How many applications has this person sent this week? | Not asked | Counted and capped |
The problem
Applying costs nothing, so volume has no ceiling.
Auto-apply tools submit to jobs on a person’s behalf, around the clock. Each application gets a cover letter written for that posting. None of it needs the person to read the job.
The result reaches your ATS as hundreds of applications per role. Many look careful. Few are. The candidate who actually read your posting is in there somewhere.
Gartner predicts, as reported by Personnel Today, that by 2028, one in four candidate profiles worldwide will be fake.
One job seeker says they used a free bot to apply to 2,843 jobs.
Identity checks don’t fix this on their own. A real, verified person can still send two thousand applications. The missing control is volume.
How it works
Three steps. Only the first takes more than a second.
Pilot note: Early pilots verify by phone number; ID verification is rolling out.
Step 1
Verify once on your phone
The candidate photographs a government ID and records a short selfie video. The check confirms a live person matching a genuine document. It happens once, not per employer.
Step 2
Tap to confirm each application
Every application is confirmed with Face ID, a fingerprint or the phone’s PIN. That tap has to happen on the candidate’s own phone, which makes automating it impractical.
Step 3
A weekly limit per person
Each verified person can send up to 20 applications per week, and the count resets every Monday. The limit is the same for everyone.
What happens to each application
- Candidate clicks Apply On your careers page
- Fills in the application On a SolelyHumans page, with your logo
- Verified, unique person? Checked once
- Under this week’s limit? Checked every time
- Arrives in Greenhouse With a verified flag
If either answer is no, the application stops before your ATS and the candidate is told why.
For talent acquisition
Less noise per role. The same real candidates.
When one person can send a thousand applications, the people who read your posting get buried. SolelyHumans removes mass-applied volume before it reaches your team.
Mass applying stops being practical
Every application needs a tap on the candidate’s own phone, and every person has a weekly cap. Sending thousands of automated applications stops being practical.
Your Greenhouse workflow stays the same
Applications are completed on a SolelyHumans page carrying your branding, then arrive in your existing pipeline with a verified flag. Stages, scorecards and reports are unchanged.
Time back on every role
Fewer, real applications means less screening time goes to noise.
Fair to every candidate
Everyone gets the same weekly limit. Nobody is scored, ranked or filtered by who they are.
For security teams
A fake remote hire with system access is a breach.
Remote hiring lets someone interview under a borrowed or invented identity, then receive credentials on day one. SolelyHumans checks a live person against a government ID before an application exists. We record the result, not the documents.
Liveness and document check
Run by our identity verification partner. It checks that the ID is genuine and that a live person matching it is present.
One person, one verified account
The check is designed to stop one person holding two verified accounts. We derive a one-way reference from the verification result. We can tell that two accounts belong to the same person without storing anything that identifies them.
Confirmed by passkey
Each application is signed with a passkey. Face and fingerprint matching happen on the candidate’s phone. We receive a cryptographic signature, never biometric data.
Not a background check
We don’t look at criminal records, credit or work history. Keep your existing checks.

What it plugs into
Built for Greenhouse first.
We’re starting with one applicant tracking system and doing it properly. Others will follow. We haven’t set dates, so we won’t promise any.
- First integration
Greenhouse
Sits in front of your job posts. Applications that pass arrive in Greenhouse as they do now, with a verified flag.
- Planned
Other ATSs
Not available yet. If you use a different system, tell us which one when we talk. It shapes what we build next.
What we don’t store
The less we hold, the less there is to lose.
None of the following is kept on our servers. That matters to your security team, and it matters to the candidates you want to hire.
No ID images
ID photos are checked by our verification partner and not kept by us.
No selfies
The selfie video confirms a live person, then we don’t keep it.
No biometric templates
Face ID and fingerprint matching stay on the candidate’s phone.
No resumes retained
Resumes pass through to Greenhouse. We don’t keep a copy.
ID images and selfie videos are processed by our identity verification partner to run the check.
What we do keep is short: a verification result, a one-way uniqueness reference, a passkey public key and a weekly count. Read the privacy page
Questions
Frequently asked
Does this slow candidates down?
Once, briefly. After that, each application is one tap.
What if verification fails?
The candidate can try again straight away. A clear photo in good light, with no glare, helps. If it keeps failing, they can ask for a manual review.
Do candidates have to pay?
No. Verification is free for candidates. Employers pay for SolelyHumans.
What about candidates without a smartphone?
Nobody should lose access to a job because of the phone they own. We’ll say exactly how this works before launch.
Is this a background check?
No. We don’t look at criminal records, credit, employment history or social media. We confirm a real, unique person and count their applications. That’s all.
